Billikens

"A collection of Alaskan artifacts is not complete without a few billikens.  This object, which appears to have been modeled after a Buddha, was invented by Florence Pretz, and art teacher in Kansas City, Missouri, but it became by adoption one of the most famous - if not infamous - Alaska ivory carvings of all time.  Its fame rests not only on its huge production after it was first copied by Alaska carvers in ivory about 1909 but also on the popular good-luck attributes."  - Text from A Legacy of Arctic Art by Dorothy Jean Ray

The picture here shows a small selection of billikens available. Prices, sizes and availability vary, so please contact us for details.

Prices usually range from $30-$70, depending on size.
